Study Tips for Online Students

Develop these study methods to get better grades. Of course, everyone studies differently. Something that works for one student may not work for another. So, you can use some of these tips or all of them, depending on what works.

1. Have Tea

Tea tastes amazing, it has a lot of antioxidant benefits and it helps you focus. You can sip on tea while working on homework or writing an essay. Read your study material while drinking tea. It can also serve as a small study break. Drinking tea while you study helps you study effectively without making you too distracted. For starters, we recommend green or blue tea. It’s a good alternative to coffee, which makes many people anxious.

2. Pomodoro Technique

Incorporate the Pomodoro technique; studying for twenty-five minutes straight and then taking a five-minute break, and then repeating the cycle. This method is effective and provides your brain with much-needed breaks every so often. It doesn’t have to be 25 minutes on and five minutes off strictly. You can modifyit to a ratio that works for you. Don’t pick a ratio where the break is much longer than the study time. You can do multiple cycles of the Pomodoro method until you finish the study material for the day.

3. Repetition

Repeat everything you studied for the day. Try to read everything at least twice and aim for three times. It is a check and balance system to make sure you really understand the material. It’s tough to master material that you have read only once. You’ll be amazed by how much information you pick up when you read something for the second time. You may see information in the caption that you never thought to read or you may see information that you just skipped the first time. When you’re taking classes like biochemistry, organic chemistry, or physics, there’s a lot of memorization involved, so you have to be smart here. During the day, you can study using Pomodoro technique, but then at night right before you sleep, take out a blank sheet of paper and write down all the important formulas and equations. This can improve your long-term memory.

4. Study With Your Online Friends

Try to study with your online buddy. Two minds are always better than one. Try to find someone as motivated and as dedicated as you, because it will do three things: show you information that you would never have seen before, you can teach them to learn more, and you guys can help each other to stay on pace. It keeps you accountable. By being responsible, you will be motivated.
